Definition of Memes:-
A meme is an idea, behaviour style, that becomes a Fad and spreads from person to person.
In other words, a meme is a humorous text, photo or video that is spread rapidly in social media. This is mainly in photo-text form meaning like one-linear jokes. It is hugely popular on every social media platform. ( that relates to internet memes.)
History:-
According to Wikipedia, word meme was formed by Richard Dawkins in his 1976 book The Selfish Gene. He tried to explain how ideas replicate, change and evolve- it is called Memetics. Sounds a bit weird!
(Claimed to be the first-ever meme, repeat I don't think so.)
But when it comes to internet memes, its concept was developed by Mike Godwin in magazine Wired, June 1993 issue. In 2013, when memes were being popular, Dawkins criticized it and likely stated that it was a copy of his idea nonetheless he hasn't claimed that meme was originally his idea.
Memes nowadays:-
There are many types of memes- photo, text, video, dank, dark memes (they are like subcategories). Memes, basically from my view are to criticize someone and on the other side, to entertain someone. Memes are present today in almost everything from movies to technology, comics and so on.....
Memes, if you don't get addicted to, are good. Usually, people see memes to increase the level of Dopamine{just kidding}- in simple words, as they love it. But if they exaggerate it, you know it won't end up good. Also, memes, sometimes become controversial. So beware of forwarding it. Many people became internet sensations only due to this.
